For this Archive, we went to London to meet Anthea Hamilton: Artist, Teacher, Boss lady and Mum. It was an opportunity for us to look back at her career, influenced by memories of her origins and her roots in "South London". One of the subjects that caught our attention in Anthea's work is her relationship with fashion, often directly referenced in her installations, but also in her collaborations with Jonathan Anderson and LOEWE. This, of course, leads to a discussion of the notion of "collaboration", a term often overused in the fashion industry. The Archive then turns to the question of work and success, and how large groups such as LVMH have replaced the government in terms of public funding. Luxury has become a new form of patronage for the arts, sports and culture... But how can we not worry about a return to a universal, hegemonic culture…

Pour cette archive, nous sommes allées à Londres, à la rencontre d’Anthea Hamilton : Artiste, Enseignante, Boss lady et Maman. C’est l’occasion pour nous de revenir sur son parcours teinté de souvenirs liés à ses origines et son ancrage dans le “South london”. Un des sujets qui nous a interpellé dans le travail d'Anthea est son rapport à la mode souvent référencé de manière directe dans ses installations mais aussi ses collaborations avec Jonathan Anderson et la maison LOEWE. Ce qui nous amène bien évidemment à discuter de la notion de “collaboration”, un terme galvaudé, souvent utilisé à tout va dans l'industrie de la mode. Dans un troisième temps, l’Archive nous amène autour de la question du travail, du succès mais aussi pourquoi aujourd'hui les grands groupes tel que LVMH ont remplacé le gouvernement en termes de subventions publiques. Le luxe devenant une nouvelle forme de mécénat des arts, des sports et de la culture. Mais comment ne pas s'inquiéter d’un retour à une culture hégémonique et universelle…
