Some stories don’t begin with achievement. They begin much earlier: in silence, in gestures, in what is passed on without ever being fully explained at home. We are not interested in surface-level success. We are interested in what shapes a life from within: the invisible threads between memory, inheritance, and choice.
For this very first episode of Season 3, I welcome Moris Hadjibay, co-owner of BAYCO Fine Jewerly. Behind this house of rare stones and unique creations lies something deeper: a father-and-son relationship, and the quiet weight of transmission.
A story of patience, intuition, and time that cannot be accelerated. Because here, time is not a constraint: it is the very material itself. And sometimes, the most decisive choices are not made in a moment, but over the course of a lifetime.
Moris grew up in the world of gemstones, alongside a father who introduced him early to a demanding craft shaped by instinct, travel, and experience. From a young age, he learned by observing, by moving between mines, traders, and workshops, gradually building his own understanding of rarity and value.
In this episode, he reflects on that inheritance: not just the technical knowledge, but a way of seeing the world. A philosophy of patience, trust, and precision passed down from father to son. We talk about extraordinary stones, the rare ones that cannot be replaced, the ones that carry history, emotion, and sometimes secrecy. In this world, reputation matters more than signatures, and a spoken word holds more weight than any contract.
Moris also shares the reality of his craft: stones that are sometimes searched for over a decade, deals driven as much by intuition as by timing, and a market where rarity defines everything. You don’t always choose the stone: sometimes, it chooses you.
But beyond gemstones, this episode is about something much larger: legacy, family, and continuity. The responsibility of carrying a story forward without breaking it. For the Hadjibay family, every decision is still made with the presence of the father in mind. A silent question remains in every move: what would he do in my place?
At the core of it all lies a simple conviction: that family is the true jewel. Businesses may span generations, but it is human bonds that give meaning to everything else. Ultimately, Moris's work is guided by the pursuit of uniqueness, not for rarity alone, but for what it represents: emotion, identity, and truth shaped over time.
An episode about long time horizons, transmission, and the enduring power of family stories that continue to evolve across generations.
