Description
Proverbs 3:13-18 • We spend our whole lives mining for fool's gold. We think the next promotion will do it, the right relationship will do it, that financial breakthrough will finally satisfy us. But every time we get what we wanted, that satisfaction evaporates like morning mist. And we're reaching again.

📚 Our verse-by-verse expository series through Proverbs
Solomon opens Proverbs 3:13 with a shocking declaration: "Happy is the man that findeth wisdom." Not happy is the man who gets the promotion, buys the house, earns respect, builds wealth—happy is the man who finds WISDOM.
And here's the twist: Wisdom isn't opposed to the things you want. Verse 16 says wisdom holds riches and honor in her hands. You don't have to choose between wisdom OR success. Wisdom HOLDS both. The question is: why are you tearing yourself apart for things wisdom already has in her hands for you?
This expository sermon walks through Proverbs 3:13-18, explaining:
- Why most American Christians are miserable (despite having everything)
- The three verbs of wisdom: Find it, Get it, Retain it
- What we've been trading our lives for (and why the trades work... but don't satisfy)
- Why Solomon says wisdom is better than silver, gold, and rubies
- The crushing paradox: legitimate pursuits that don't make us happy
- "Her ways are ways of pleasantness, all her paths are peace" (vs. white-knuckle striving)
- Wisdom as "a tree of life" (the profound Genesis 2 connection)
- Why we keep walking past the tree of life with arms full of counterfeits
- How to stop exhausting yourself chasing things that don't satisfy

📖 Key Scriptures (KJV):
"Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her." - Proverbs 3:13-15
"Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her." - Proverbs 3:16-18
"Then I looked on all the works that my hands had wrought, and on the labour that I had laboured to do: and, behold, all was vanity and vexation of spirit, and there was no profit under the sun." - Ecclesiastes 2:11
