Could you give me, Dr. Jordan, can I say that? Yes. Okay. Could you give me, Dr. Jordan, your vision? of health?
- Dr Jordan Martin
So health to me is, you know, health and vitality in life. It's really enjoying life to its fullest, right? It's being able to do what you want to do, being able to enjoy the body that we're given. So be able to be pain-free, whether that's playing with your kids, playing with your grandkids, doing yoga, everyone's journey is different. But to me, it's being able to do what you want to do and live life to its fullest and flourish. And I... personally work as a guide like i explained i just i'm a facilitator to help people reach their health goals whatever that goal might be my my job is to guide them along their journey so that they can actually their body can heal and they can enjoy life in the body that they're given so
- Speaker #1
it's beautiful it's very interesting because we have the same definition for some words but for the health we have not the same picture And it's 20 interviews for me and it's the first time I can hear the link between enjoying your life, your body with your child or grandchild. It's the first time. First time. Yes. Thank you for that.
- Sophie Rouméas
Oh, yeah. So what could be your advice to be the best practitioner you could be in your work as a chiropractor or osteopath?
- Dr Jordan Martin
Yeah. You know, know your why. Why do you come to work? Why do you wake up every day to go into work? Really be convicted on yourself, on why I'm here, why I'm here to help people. And that is going to transfer into your patience. It's going to transfer into your work. You're going to be excited for work. You're going to want to go to work. You're going to want to help people and heal people. If you don't know your why, it's going to be... A challenge to go to work, right, is going to be you might dread going to the office or you see a full schedule and you might feel tired, fatigued, run down, burnt out, right? But if you know, look, I wake up every day for whatever that why is, right? You know, my why is because I get to see patients and guide them and see them do and live life that they want to live, right? You see people that are. I mean, I see some patients that are coming in crawling, right? They can't do anything. And you hear these stories about years of people going on journeys and just living a life that is with, you know, no light shining. The blinds are closed. They don't really know anything else. And you can go help them open the blinds and let them see the sunshine again. So it's really just being true to yourself and knowing why you want to come to work. yeah just convicted on that i'm i'm here in my purpose hopefully that helps thank you thank you of course my friend
- Sophie Rouméas
So Antoine is asking me if I have a question that may come knowing a bit both of you are on different sides. I would say, because being from France and being here now in the United States, and health is a universal ingredient of life, what would be the best reach between all the different ways? how to improve each other. Does it exist some bridges to build between, okay, the best practice you have, the best practice that may be in France, and does it exist, this kind of collaboration?
- Dr Jordan Martin
As far as, I might not understand the question, sorry, building like a community practice or like a practice with multiple disciplinaries?
- Sophie Rouméas
maybe here there is a specific definition for health, like health imbalance which is a very holistic view. In France we are coming to here, so some people are already in this beautiful vision, some not yet. Will there be a place where people could communicate like helping each other maybe friends may have something to help with healing. improve or to enrich?
- Dr Jordan Martin
Absolutely.
- Sophie Rouméas
With the existing such community?
- Dr Jordan Martin
I don't know if there's a community yet, but I would love it to see a community. We all, you know, we all might have a little different philosophy, a little different look at things. I think it's all valuable and it all is a player. And I think we can all learn from each other, right? I think that's what hinders some of the profession is people get stuck in their views, right? than my way. If I'm a carpenter, everything looks like a nail, right? So it's like being able to accept and being curious about what others bring to it and being open that there's many different ways to help people in many different ways to provide health. And health might mean various different things for different people.
- Sophie Rouméas
Because in French, when you're using you probably have American people, but you may have also people from other places, like other cultures. Yes. Does it make a difference in a session having people with a different culture or background?
- Dr Jordan Martin
No, I don't think so. We're all people, you know? We're all humans. Doesn't make a difference to me. Culture, religion. Yeah, we're all a community. Yeah, we're all people.
- Speaker #1
Maybe I have a last question for your time. The spiritual part, for me it's fascinating, but it's not easy to work with this part. In your job, I know and I feel the structural part, the biochemical, the emotional part, I know, I understand. How is the part? Are we the part for the spiritual in your work? You understand? It's a very difficult question for me in France.
- Dr Jordan Martin
It is. So spirituality means different things for different people. I'm personally Christian. Most of our office is Christian, so we do have a network there. We do pray for people in our morning huddles. As far as breaching spirituality with the patients, it's not I don't necessarily go into that world too much with them. Yeah, it's a challenge and there can be conflicting views. That doesn't matter to me, but it might matter to someone. And so I typically don't speak a lot of religion or philosophy, I mean spirituality as much with people.
- Speaker #1
Okay, thank you for the difference between spirituality and religion. For me it's not the same, but because in France, We can't... my last question is we need some research, we need some very knowledge on the body and it's very good, the scientific publication. But on the other part, I'm sure and they are a god, but not just with christianism or islamic or... but... a power in the nature and when I work sometimes I can feel I'm not alone and I work with another partner. So one part of the health practitioners believe in God. And it's fascinating for me the paradox between the anatomy, the knowledge, publication, and on the other part, the spiritual part. In France, it's very difficult to speak about this both part. You understand? How is in USA, in Cali, this part for you?
- Dr Jordan Martin
It's difficult as well, I would say, to speak about it. Like I said, I mean, I have my belief system. And, you know, I do explain to people like that's the reason why your body is designed to heal, right? It's because that's your... I do say that our body is designed by God and it's designed to heal. That's what we're given. I think maybe what you're talking about is, I mean, maybe not, but I know spirituality might mean different things for everyone. And there is a separation between spirituality and religion. The feeling, what I kind of get is we're all magnetic resonating beings, right? So we all put off an energy and you can be sensitive to that energy and there's different energies. that people put off. And I can explain that to patients in a way without breaching kind of the spirituality part that, you know, we are resonating beings and we do put off an emotional and an energy to people. And that's I think what you pick up on your work too, as you pick up on the energy.
